Happy Birthday to Tony - Iyengar Yoga teacher - AIDS LifeCycle, Cyclist

AIDS/LifeCycle, cyclist - tony eason

Today at 8:30am., I got up for my traditional morning coffee, shower and song. And then, I began to smile.

It occurred to me:
I had begun my 43rd year of existence.
And that some how, I had survived another anniversary, another birthday . . .

And then, I closed the shower stall, reached for the warm water, and began to sing.

"But whether I'm the rose
Of sheer perfection,
Or freckle on the nose
Of life's complexion,
The cinder or the shiny apple of its eye.

I gotta fly once,
I gotta try once,
Only can die once, right, sir?
Ooh, love is juicy,
Juicy, and you see
I gotta have my bite, sir!

Get ready for me, love,
'Cause I'm a "comer,"
I simply gotta march,
My heart's a drummer.
Don't bring around a cloud
To rain on my parade!"

Bratislava - Slovakia resident speaks to Oprah Winfrey & each and every individual - Interview #15

After five years (yesterday) I was renunited with an ole friend. As we spoke, he informed me that he's glad to hear that I've found my calling . ... . .

So, I asked him to speak on AIDS.

The following statement is from an Afro-American living in the Bratislava, Slovakia Community. No harm of any kind is intended. . . . And each individual's statements are truly their own ....

Rob Wright
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Astrological Sign: Taurus
Zodiac Year: Sheep
Occupation: ENTREPRENEUR
Location: Bratislava : Slovakia

If you had one thing to say to the world, what would it be?

THERE ARE FEW REPORTED CASES OF AID'S IN CENTRAL EUROPE AND THOSE INDIGENOUS TO THE REGION FEEL:
a. THEY ARE IMMUNE
b. IT IS A GAY DISEASE OR
c. THEY CAN TELL IF SOMEBODY HAS AIDS BY TALKING TO/LOOKING AT THEM.

FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS, I HAVE BEEN LIVING IN EASTERN EUROPE. AND, I'M DEVISTATED BY THE DEGREE OF INGNORANCE ABOUT AID'S RELATED TOPICS.

SLOVAKIA IS AN ESPECIALLY EXCESSIVELY STRAIGHT ENVIRONMENT THAT FUNCTIONS WITH THE OBVIOUS SHELTERING OF A LINGERING POST COMMUNIST REGIME.

I HAVE LOST FRIENDS & 86'D FROM A GAY BAR FOR SUGGESTING THE USE OF CONDOMS AS A DETERENT TO CONTRACTING HIV. I FELT LIKE I HAD WALKED TOO FAR AND FALLEN OFF THE EDGE OF EARTH. IT SADDENS ME TO SEE AND HEAR ACADEMICALLY EDUCATED AND SEEMINGLY SOCIALLY WELL ADJUSTED PEOPLE EXPOSE SUCH A DANGEROUSLY INEPT PHILOSOPHY.

BEING BLACK IN EASTERN EUROPE IS A CHALLENGE WITHIN ITSELF. ALSO BEING AN EXISTENTIALIST IS ALMOST CRIPPLING.

I'VE BEEN CONFRONTED WITH A HUMANISTIC RESPONSIBILITY TO EDUCATE A VIOLENTLY IGNORANT CULTURE AS TO THE REPERCUSSIONS OF UNSAFE SEX PRACTICES. YET, I HAVE BEEN MET WITH EXTREME OPPOSITION AND DISREGARD.

I HAVE DECIDED TO CLIMB DOWN OFF THE CROSS OF LEADING THE CRUSADE FOR PREVENTION. HOWEVER AS ALWAYS, I CONTINUE TO LIVE BY EXAMPLE AND PRACTISE SAFE SEX.

AM I BEING SELFISH KNOWING FULL WELL THE SUNAMI IS BUILDING MOMENTUM?

AIDS Education is a very important part of AIDS prevention. Thank you very much for you kind word Rob Wright, ....aids Lifecycle cyclist - iyengar yoga teacher, ynottony

Hey Oprah Winfrey - Harpo Productions - Interview #14 - A San Franciscan Resident

The following interviews are the opinions of individuals in the San Francisco Community. No harm of any kind is intended. . . . And each individual's statements are truly their own ....

Jackson

Nane: Jackson
Education: New York University Tisch School of the Arts
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 200 lbs.
Age: 28
Birth Place/Origin: Long Beach, CA. USA
Occupation: Freelance Writer, Web Geek
Present Location/Where do you live? San Francisco, CA 94110 (two blocks from Tony!)
Favorite Book: "Gravity's Rainbow" by Thomas Pynchon

1.) What do you think is the world's greatest asset?
I'd have to say life, if you take 'the world' literally. It's certainly something no other planet in the solar system has going for it! Okay, okay, so some bacteria may live on Mars, so multi-cellular life, I guess.

2.) If you could make one wish for humanity what would it be?
I only get one? Man, humanity has some problems big enough to need a dozen or more! I'd have to say as much as there are some folks I'd like to open up a can of whoop-ass on, it would be nice if we could do something about violence in a permanent way.

3.) How has the AIDS/HIV Panademic affected you?
Man. So many ways. I mean, forget free love! Seriously, though, I have a pretty sad story about a friend:

When I was growing up in Seattle, my family had some neighbors who were good family friends. They were deeply religious, though they came from a very progressive Catholic tradition that stressed social justice and love as part of Raymond Hunthausen's archdiocese in Seattle. In the early nineties, they lost their brother to AIDS. When the family held services for him, his life partner of over a decade wasn't recognized once, nor did the priest mention why this wonderful, friendly, loving man had died. I found that level of willful ignorance so much more tragic.

4.) How many years have you participated in the AIDS/LifeCycle Event?
Sadly, I've never actually made the ride. I did help out with one of Tony's fundraisers, though, and hope to continue helping him and all my friends who participate in any way I can.

5.) Have you participated in any other AIDS related charity events? (If so, what? And, how many?)
Oh, man, too many to count. Walks, fundraisers, donations -- ever since I was a kid.

6.) If you had one thing to say to the world, what would it be?
I know it can lead to cynicism, but really, please value reason and ration, especially over anger and hate.

7.) If you had one thing to say to Oprah Winfrey, what would it be?
I love Ezell's fried chicken too! Oh, and helping out with the AIDS/LifeCycle ride is the opportunity of a lifetime.

8.) If you had one thing to say to Lance Armstrong, what would it be?
Sorry to hear about those positive drug tests surfacing from 1999! Oh, and helping out with the AIDS/LifeCycle ride is the opportunity of a lifetime.

9.) What are you passions in life?
Art, baseball, funk, computers and drinking beer with my friends -- in no particular order.

10.) What are your personal goals in life?
Figuring out how to live comfortably doing what I love to do.

11.) Who is your favorite cyclist?
I always though Greg LeMonde got a short shrift in the US. He was a great Tour de France champion.

12.) What is your life motto?
"Liberte, egalite, fraternite." Or something like that.

13> What is your favorite book?
Oh, that's a tough one. But if Oprah really wanted to challenge her book club, how about "Gravity's Rainbow" by Thomas Pynchon

Thanks Jackson, ....aids/LifeCycle cyclist - iyengar yoga teacher, tony eason
